Payback Predictions
It's special event time again! This time we head to the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois for the second ever Payback event. As we move on from WrestleMania to SummerSlam, all eyes will be on this event to see what will go down. As of right now, there are seven matches on the card, but another one may be added. Since I predicted all eight matches at Extreme Rules correctly, I want to call at least six right for this event.
El Torito vs. Hornswoggle: For the second pre-show in a row, the two little guys are going at it. Their last match, a WeeLC match, was actually pretty entertaining. This one is just a normal match with a Mask vs. Hair stipulation. It's most likely not going to be as entertaining as the first one, but you never know. My prediction is El Torito, as it's bad for a luchador to lose their mask.
John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt- A rivalry of a few months will likely culminate here at Payback, where Cena and Wyatt will clash in a Last Man Standing Match. Since Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and the Usos do not have a match, expect them to get involved. This is a little tough to call, but I'm going to go with Wyatt. If he loses this rivalry his stock will decrease quite a bit.
Bad News Barrett vs Rob Van Dam- In his first special event title defense of his new reign, Bad News Barrett will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Rob Van Dam, who won a Beat the Clock Challenge to become the #1 Contender. Since he's a part-timer, expect RVD to put Barrett over cleanly.
Sheamus vs Cesaro- In what could possibly be a Match of the Week contender, Sheamus, for only the second time in his career, defends the United States Championship in a special event. His opponent: Cesaro, one of the hottest superstars in the WWE. This is a little tricky to call, but I'm going to go with Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior is too over to have such a short title reign.
Paige vs. Alicia Fox- In her second televised title defense, Paige defends against Alicia Fox. Unlike most Diva rivalries, this actually has had a good build-up. Lately, Alicia has flipped out after matches. We don't know if it's going to last, but it's made for some interesting viewing. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will translate into winning the title. Paige is too hot to lose the title so quickly.
Rusev vs. Big E- Rusev competes in his second special event match when he takes on the former Intercontinental Champion Big E. Unfortunately for Big E, it doesn't look like this match isn't more than a glorified jobber match. Rusev is undefeated and is on a hot streak.
Evolution vs. The Shield- In what should be the main event, Evolution and the Shield clash in a No Holds Barred Elimination match. This could be a Match of the Year contender. Like I said in a previous article, Batista will be taking a hiatus soon to promote his upcoming movie. Therefore, we can conclude that he will be eliminated. Triple H could be the sole survivor for Evolution but it makes more sense for Roman Reigns to be the sole survivor, seeing as he is in line for a major push.
