10 Reasons Kofi Kingston Should Be a Main Eventer

Kofi Kingston has been with the WWE since his 2008 debut with ECW. He's won ten championships, competed in two Elimination Chamber matches, feuded with top guys like Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton, been the sole survivor of the traditional Survivor Series ten-man elimination tag match, and performed some of the best spots in Royal Rumble history.

He's also been involved in the world title picture and cleanly pinned Randy Orton in February (Orton was still WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the time). Still, he's never been in the main event picture. Instead, he's been a solid midcarder. This is unfair, but the right guys don't always get pushed. For proof of that, take a gander at Dolph Ziggler. At 32 years old, he's still got at least seven great years left in him. That's more than enough time to build him up and give him a solid main event push. Here are ten reasons why Kingston deserves to be a main eventer.

10. His Athleticism- Like I said before, Kingston had provided some of the best Royal Rumble spots in history. Some of those include walking on his hands, leaping from the barricade to the ring apron, and hanging from the bottom rope with just his feet. It takes a great athlete to pull off these feats. It would be great to see some of that athleticism on display in some main event matches.

9. He's Over- Kingston is a fan favorite, especially with the younger audience. He also has good merchandise sales, most of which come from the young fans. The rest of the crowd seems to like him as well. He's not reached the Daniel Bryan levels of fandom in the IWC, but he's still well-liked. If he got a main event push that was booked properly, fans would get behind him.

8. He Has Great Potential- The Wildcat is a talented wrestler, no doubt about it. His promo skills aren't the best, but that can get better. Kingston has the ability to make it big, but it may never be tapped. He should at least get the chance.

7. It Would Be Believable- Sometimes, when a superstar is pushed, it makes sense. For example, Ryback's main event push in 2012 was believable because he had dominated for a good number of months before. Other pushes however, are not so believable. Curtis Axel's push in 2013 is a good example of this. No one believed a guy who had trouble getting wins on NXT could suddenly go toe-to-toe with Triple H and John Cena. If Kingston got a push, it would be believable. As mentioned before, he's pinned Orton multiple times.

6. He Deserves It- Kingston has spent his entire career as a midcarder. Sure, that's better than being a jobber, but he could be a main eventer. He's definitely put in his time. There are a number of stars who deserve a push (such as Damien Sandow, Emma, and Titus O'Neil). Kingston is one of them.

5. It Could Be a Gateway for Other Superstars- In the previous entry, I listed three superstars who deserve a push. There are plenty of others, including Drew McIntyre, Naomi, and Cody Rhodes. If Kingston gets his push, and it goes well, then the WWE might be more inclined to push other deserving superstars.

4. New Rivalries- At this point, Kingston's taken on guys like The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger multiple times. He hasn't had an original rivalry in months. If he got pushed to the main event, it would open up a whole bunch of possibilities. How great would a rivalry between him and Seth Rollins be?

3. Possible Heel Turn- A few months ago, Kofi Kingston was interviewed by Donald Wood on Ring Rust Radio. One of the things they talked about was a possible heel turn, which Kingston was for. It would honestly help his character out a lot. With a revamped character, Kingston could make the main event scene.

2. He's Beaten Quality Opponents- Kingston has multiple wins over top superstars such as Randy Orton, Cesaro, and Bad News Barrett. Of course, those wins don't really matter now, but the commentators could mention them. That would help build Kingston's credibility.

1. We Need a New Top Star- Sure, there are guys like The Shield, Cesaro, and Bray Wyatt on their way up, but there is always room at the top. A new era of stars are heading up, and Kingston deserves to be a part of that.

Do you think Kofi Kingston deserves to be a top star? Comment and let me know.
