Projecting the Members of Team Cena and Team Authority

On the last episode of Raw, it was announced that John Cena and The Authority would square off in a traditional five-on-five elimination match at Survivor Series. There are only three episodes of Raw left before the Big Four event. Seeing as how WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar won't be at the show, this will probably be the main event. It's a little hard to believe that Cena, the #1 Contender for the World title, isn't clamoring for a title shot but is fighting The Authority instead. In this article, we'll be projecting the ten contenders in that match, and who we want to see.

Let's start with Team Authority. The obvious members are Seth Rollins (who Cena was feuding with) and Kane. We could also see Triple H get involved, as this is one of the Big Four events. As for the other two members of the team, that's a little tricky. We could see Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble, as they're the only other male members of The Authority. Besides, they've gotten involved in the action as of late. They got beaten pretty badly by Dean Ambrose on last week's episode of Raw and at Hell in a Cell. It wouldn't be exciting, but it's certainly possible.

But what if Triple H, Mercury, and Noble are not involved? We could have The Authority either recruit new members temporarily or permanently. It would be a great way to push some stars and would get The Authority a lot of heat. One idea for a new member: Cesaro. He has nothing going on right now and he would make a great addition to the group. Another possible member: David "A-List" Otunga. His Harvard Law School gimmick makes him a perfect addition to The Authority. After all, his last big thing was working under John Laurinaitis. This would be the perfect way to reintroduce the two-time tag champ back into the mix. (Seriously, we haven't seen the guy in months). Or how about Rusev? This would be the perfect way to elevate Rusev and cement his place as an upper midcarder. Rusev and Cesaro would not have to be permanent additions to The Authority, but Cesaro could be permanent. Rusev would be better as a hired man. Otunga on the other hand, would make a perfect addition to the group. His coffee drinking, sweater vest wearing character would make a great Authority figure.

Now let's move on to Team Cena. The obvious choice is the Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. He has already aligned with Cena, though he is not an official member of the team. This is an excellent addition to the team, as Ziggler is a top-notch wrestler. Being part of this match can only elevate him and the IC title. The next guy to add is the United States Champion Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior is an upper midcarder and one of the top faces in the company. Of course, we could also see him turn heel and join The Authority, but that doesn't seem as likely. Having both Sheamus and Ziggler in this match does present one problem however: no singles championship will be defended at Survivor Series. As a result, we may not see Sheamus in this match, though it would make sense to have him. Next, how about the returning Ryback? The Big Guy made his return to Raw and beat Bo Dallas. This is the first time Ryback has been a face since 2013 and the WWE needs to make sure his return is a success. The perfect way to do that would be have him on Team Cena. Another possible addition to the team: The Usos. Now that their rivalry with Gold & Stardust is over, they need something to do. They may not be as over as they used to be, but they're still big stars and need to be utilized correctly. Finally, we get to Randy Orton. The Viper turned on The Authority on Raw when he hit Seth Rollins with an RKO. He has however, not turned face yet. Until he makes the turn, he cannot join the team. Joining Team Cena will be a nice start to his rivalry with Seth Rollins.

So, to recap, here's what the ideal battle would be: Triple H, Seth Rollins, Kane, Cesaro, and David Otunga vs. John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Ryback, and Randy Orton. This has an actual chance of happening (or at least something close). We have three episodes of Raw (like anything ever happens on SmackDown) left to find out.
