10 Sites/ Pages Wrestling Fans Need to be Aware Of
The Internet Wrestling Community makes up a big portion of wrestling fans nowadays. Members of the IWC includes anyone who does anything wrestling related online. If you are reading this article, then you are a member of the IWC. So why not make the most out of your IWC membership? Learn everything you can about the business by reading articles, watching old matches, studying up on wrestlers' movesets, listening to a podcast, etc. Here are ten sites/pages that every IWC member should be aware of.
1. Profightdb.com- The annals of professional wrestling can be confusing at times. Things get mixed up a lot of the time. Some reigns are not official, some wins are vacated, etc. The Internet Wrestling Database is the perfect place to go to in order to check up on wrestling statistics. For example, did you know the superstar with the highest win percentage in the history of the WWE is Adam Rose? True story.
2. Whatculture.com- WWE is only one of Whatculture's sections, but they put a lot of effort into it. They have a host of great writers, including John Canton, Andrew Soucek, and Vince Russo (yes, that Vince Russo). The best part of their site is the features, which are extremely unique. Some good recent ones include "7 Awe some WWE Heels That The Fans Turned Face", "10 Step Guide To Surviving A Hell In A Cell Match", and "10 Times You Were Proud To Be A WWE Fan".
3. Bleacherreport.com- Like Whatculture, this site has a lot of sections, but their WWE section is a good one. They have a lot of interesting feature articles and their reviews are always excellent and on-point.
4. WWE.com- This may seem like an obvious one, but not a lot of people think to go on the WWE website. They have some good articles, as well as interviews with past and future stars and breaking news alerts.
5. Wrestlingexaminer.blogspot.com- Come on, you didn't think I'd forget about my own site did you? This website may not be as popular or big as the other entries on this list, but we have some excellent and original articles.
6. Wrestleview.com- Most of the other sites on this list have features, but Wrestleview is mainly about news articles. A lot of websites do recaps of Raw and Smackdown, but no other website does it better than Wrestleview.
7. WWE Creative Humor (Twitter)- As we often know, the WWE Creative Team doesn't always get their booking right. However, they don't admit their mistakes. That's where @WWECreative_Ish comes in. The page is full of hilarious tweets reacting to recent developments. Check it out if you want some good laughs.
8. Botched Spot- Continuing on the humor theme, we turn our attention to Botched Spot, a web comic. There are some great comics (most of which tend to be about recent topics) on the site. Note: you can either start reading the recent comics or start from the very beginning (I recommend the latter).
9. Podcasts- This doesn't really count as a page or site, unless it's the iTunes page. For those looking to get an inside look at the business, this is is the best way to do so. I personally recommend Talk is Jericho, The Ross Report, and The Steve Austin Show - Unleashed, but there are a lot of wrestling shows out there.
10. WWE Network- Again, this is not a site or page, but it's a necessity for any wrestling fan, especially those of this generation. Fans who are growing up in this era missed out on the Attitude Era and superstars like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Owen Hart, and Goldberg. For the low, low price of only $9.99, you can see all of those superstars and more.
These are all excellent ways to know more about the wrestling business, especially from a backstage perspective. If you have any more suggestions, please comment and let me know.
