Ten Good Things From the Week: 4/27/14- 5/3/14

This was a good week for wrestling. TNA put on a great pay-per-view and WWE built up to Extreme Rules. In this article, we'll highlight ten good things from this week, as well as what they could lead to. Hopefully this becomes a weekly thing, but no promises.

1. Kane getting up after a wrench shot to the head: Normally, getting hit in the head is supposed to take an opponent out. At Hell in a Cell 2011, Alberto Del Rio pinned CM Punk after hitting him in the head with a lead pipe. Later that month, he beat John Cena in a Last Man Standing match after clocking him in the noggin with the WWE Championship. On Raw, Daniel Bryan hit Kane in the head with a wrench. But after about 15 seconds, Kane sat up. It may seem like a small thing, but it was the best spot of the week. Why? Not only did it show Kane as a hellish, tough-as-nails big guy, but it was just cool to watch. Expect more great spots like this in their match tomorrow.

2. Tigre Uno vs. Sanada- Their match at TNA Sacrifice was the final match in their best-of-three series. Everyone was expecting a good match, but were they expecting this technical masterpiece? These two very talented wrestlers gave it their all and put on a great match. It was easily one of the best matches of the night.

3. Triple Threat Match Added to Extreme Rules- Triple Threat matches with nothing on the line are pretty rare. Usually, there is something at stake, such as a title. So when it was announced, that at Extreme Rules it would be Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger, it was pretty cool. It definitely will be better than a singles match between Cesaro and Swagger or Cesaro and RVD.

4. Titus O'Neil being aggressive- On Raw, O'Neil was scheduled to face Sheamus. But before the match, O'Neil attacked Sheamus from behind. It was great to see some aggression from him, even though he did lose the match. We also saw some aggression from him on SmackDown, though he lost that match too. This shows that the WWE does have some faith in O'Neil, and that he's not just a glorified jobber.

5. R-Truth and Xavier Woods don't get destroyed- It was announced on Raw that Truth and Woods would take on Alexander Rusev in a handicap match on Sunday. This of course, is nothing more than a squash match. Truth and Woods have as much chance as winning as Jeff Jarrett does of making the WWE Hall of Fame. Nonetheless, it was nice to see Truth and Woods putting up a bit of a fight. In fact, they stood tall on both Raw and SmackDown. Don't expect that to happen tomorrow though.

6. Eric Young vs. Magnus- The main event of Sacrifice was for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Everyone knew Eric Young would win, but the match was still excellent. Most fans believe that the Street Fight between Gunner and James Storm was the best match of the night, I'm gonna go with this one. The two have great chemistry and had some great sequences in the match.

7. United States Championship match- On SmackDown, Dean Ambrose retained his title in a match against Ryback, Curtis Axel, and Del Rio. It was a good match, but the most important thing about the match was that it happened. Ambrose doesn't defend his title nearly enough as he should. Previous champions like Daniel Bryan, Antonio Cesaro, and Dolph Ziggler defended it much more often. Hopefully we will see more U.S. title matches in the future.

8. Singing children- On the opening segment of Raw, Bray Wyatt and a children's choir sang to John Cena, who was in a steel cage. Cena was clearly rattled, as it showed that Wyatt had support from the WWE Universe. It also brings back Wyatt's original depiction as a backwoods cult leader. Overall, this was another memorable segment between Cena and the Wyatt Family.

9. Big E shows some aggression- On SmackDown, the Intercontinental Champion picked up a win by disqualification against O'Neil. After the match, Big E went after his opponent, showing a ruthless side he has not displayed before. This couldn't have come at a better time, as he will defend his title against the brawler Bad News Barrett at Extreme Rules.

10. Bad News Barrett becomes #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship- Barrett beat RVD on Raw for the right to face Big E at Extreme Rules. This should be a great match, as both superstars are physical fighters. Barrett has been riding a big wave recently, and it could result in him winning the gold.

Overall, a very solid week. TNA usually gets overshadowed by WWE, but they held their own this week. But that should change next week, thanks to the Extreme Rules special event.
