5 Reasons John Cena Will Never Turn Heel

The Internet Wrestling Community (IWC) does not like John Cena. They don't like him at all. If that wasn't apparent to you, and you call yourself a wrestling fan, where have you been? Since Cena is the face of the WWE, they constantly push him and try to get him over with the fans. When the fans respond with boos, the WWE incorporates that into Cena's character (which pisses the fans off even more). There have been calls to turn Cena heel for years, but so far that hasn't come to fruition. Here's five reasons why the turn will never happen:

5. The WWE Doesn't Always Listen To the Fans

Isn't this one obvious? The WWE may be funded by the fans, but that doesn't mean it takes direction from them. Sometimes, the WWE has listened, such as when they put Daniel Bryan in the main event at this year's WrestleMania. Most of the time however, they don't listen. For example, think back to Zack Ryder (remember him?) in 2011. Thank to his Youtube videos, he was becoming one of the most popular superstars on the roster. The WWE was finally forced to take notice. In December, Ryder beat Dolph Ziggler and won the United States Championship. However, the WWE then gave a big "f*ck you" to the fans and had Jack Swagger beat him for the title less than 30 days later, gave him a terrible injury (kayfabe), and didn't even have compete at the next two pay-per-views. If the WWE hasn't listened in the past, why should they listen now?

4. It Would Come Across as a Desperation Move

Think about it, what would actually happen if Cena turned heel? Sure, people would cheer for him, but they would also start questioning why the WWE did it. Most people would probably think it was done for shock value or to get people invested in Cena again. Some however, would probably think the WWE was desperate. They were so desperate to get people interested in the product, that they turned their biggest star heel. This could very well backfire. The WWE could very well be criticized for caving in to the demands of fans instead of doing what is truly best for business. After all, out of all of the WWE's full-time stars, no one has more mainstream appeal than Cena.

3. Merchandise Sales

Merchandise is a big part of WWE revenue. Think of a live crowd in a city like Chicago or New Orleans, and imagine every single person in the crowd is wearing at least one piece of WWE merchandise. Yeah, that's a lot of money. And no one sells more merchandise than John Cena. In fact, it's not even close. Even other popular guys (such as Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, The Shield, and Triple H), do not even sell close to as much merch as Cena does. The biggest buyers of his merchandise? Children and their parents. So what will happen if Cena turns heel? Those kids and parents aren't going to buy any more merchandise. Older fans who hated him before that may buy some merchandise, but revenue levels will definitely drop significantly. The WWE can't afford to take that kind of financial hit, especially in this time of economic turmoil.

2.Make-A-Wish

As I said before, the young fans love John Cena. After all, his whole message about never giving up and his superman gimmick is a big hit with them. Just how much Cena means to kids is evident in the fact that he's granted more than 400 wishes to Make-A-Wish patients, more than any other celebrity. The WWE takes great pride in this, as they often promote their superstars granting wishes. If Cena turned heel, think of all those young patients who would be crushed. Their hero is suddenly a villain? For their sake, Cena should always be a face.

1. They Don't Need To

The main reason the WWE won't turn Cena face: they don't need to. It's a simple reason, but it's a good one. Cena is the biggest star the WWE has, it's not like his stock can really go much higher. The only place for him to go is down, and that could happen if he turns heel. After all, who's to say the fans will cheer him if he turns heel? They hate him  now, but they might still hate him if he turns heel. The WWE might just think the best option is to keep him face. Also, sometimes it's just simpler to maintain the status quo. Why change things up when things are working fine right now?

Do you think John Cena will turn heel? Comment and let me know.
