10 Reasons Bo Dallas Should be the Next Intercontinental Champion
At WWE Battleground, there will be an over-the-top-rope Battle Royal to determine who will be the next Intercontinental Champion. The title was vacated in June when Bad News Barrett suffered a shoulder injury. Twenty superstars will be competing in the Battle Royal, including The Great Khali, Xavier Woods, and the United States Champion Sheamus. There were twenty-two competitors as of yesterday, but Adam Rose and Damien Sandow were dropped, presumably to have a match. Out of all the competitors in the match, there is no one more suited to win than Bo Dallas. The "Inspirational" Bo Dallas debuted on the main roster in May, and has been picking up traction ever since. The next logical career move: give him the Intercontinental Championship. Here's ten reasons why.
10. He's Over- The main problem with Adam Rose: he hasn't been well-received by fans. The WWE hoped fans would chant his theme song, like they did with Fandango, but that hasn't exactly panned out. Dallas on the other hand, has been getting good reactions from the fans. In order to capitalize on that, the WWE must give a push, and what better push than giving him the IC title?
9. His Mic Work- Dallas's promos so far have been quite great. He's been cutting solid promos about his opponents, inspirational words, etc. Imagine how good the promo he cuts after he wins will be. It could be a career-making one.
8. Cesaro's Push is Slowing Down- A few months ago, Cesaro was one of the hottest superstars in the WWE. He was one of the final competitors in the Royal Rumble, he competed in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match, won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and beat Rob Van Dam and Jack Swagger at Extreme Rules. Now, he's slowed down considerably. He's lost on three straight episodes on Raw and Paul Heyman is distancing himself from him. Why? Because Brock Lesnar is returning, and he is a much bigger star than Cesaro. If Cesaro wins the IC title, Heyman will be forced to pay attention to him, and all of his attention should be focused on Lesnar.
7. He Needs to Stay Relevant- So far, Dallas has yet to have a real feud. His closest thing to that was a mini-feud with El Torito and Diego. Unless he has a real feud, he could soon be irrelevant. Giving him the IC title will make sure he's relevant.
6. Sheamus Cannot Hold Both Titles- Sheamus is positioned as one of the favorites to win the Battle Royal. After all, the last time 20 superstars competed in a Battle Royal to win a title, Sheamus won. However, it makes no sense to give Sheamus both titles, unless he's turning heel, and that doesn't seem like it's happening. If they give him the title, it just deprives another superstar of relevance. Sheamus is already a top superstar.
5. He Deserves It- Dallas is undefeated in singles matches and has been great on the mic. In other words, he's been very entertaining. This is not an easy gimmick to pull off, but Dallas has been solid. He certainly deserves a reward, and what better reward is there other than the IC title?
4. He Will Become a Solid Midcarder- Dallas is a midcarder, but he's not totally established. He's only been on the main roster for a few months, and could fall at any point. Giving him the title would definitely make him a solid or even top midcarder.
3. He Can be Positioned for Bigger Things- The IC title is the second-most prestigious title in the WWE, behind only the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Winning the IC title can be seen as a gateway to bigger things. After feuding with all the midcarders, Dallas could move on to top superstars such as Sheamus, Dean Ambrose, and maybe even John Cena.
2. Bad News Barrett Can Turn Face- Ever since he returned to active competition in May, Barrett has been cheered on by the fans. He's what can be called a cool heel, like the Wyatt Family. It makes sense for Barrett to turn face. That could lead to...
1. A Possible Feud with Barrett- These two had a mini-feud in the beginning of 2013, but it went nowhere. Now, the two of them could feud over the IC title. Also, the roles will be switched, which will be very interesting to see.
As I've stated in this article, Bo Dallas should win the IC title. It seems like it will happen, but there are other favorites in the match, including The Miz. There's only one way to find out: watch WWE Battlegound on Sunday.
