10 Positives from Fastlane

The first-ever edition of the Fastlane PPV took place yesterday, and while it wasn't a great show, it was still a pretty good show. Many fans were expecting a train wreck of a show, but things worked out pretty well. In this article, we'll identify ten positives from the show and how things will move forward. Let's get started.

10. It's 'Mania Season, and People are Excited- This show was all about getting ready for WrestleMania, and it did just that. People aren't all that big about 'Mania as they were in any of the years before. I think that will change as we get closer and closer to the big day.

9. Barrett vs. Ambrose Continues- In my predictions, I predicted that Ambrose would win this title, as he is a lot hotter than Barrett, who has appeared really weak as of late. However, Barrett won by DQ and was taken out by Ambrose after the bell rang. I'm glad to see this feud continue a little bit, it will make fans tune in to Raw to see Ambrose win the title.

8. Nikki Bella Retains- Many online fans have been criticizing the Bella twins to no end, but Nikki actually deserves a lot of credit for her performance yesterday. She is most likely on the top five wrestlers in the Divas division, which many people thought would never happen. Paige was impressive as always, and the match as a whole was pretty good. Also, having Nikki retain works, as she can lose the title to Charlotte or Bayley.

7. Goldust & Stardust Build Up- The Goldust & Stardust feud has been underwhelming, to say the least. They've gotten virtually no crowd reactions, even though they brought Dusty Rhodes in. This would have worked a lot better if the two had feuded directly after The Brotherhood segment when they were extremely hot. The show as a whole did up interest in the rivalry a little bit, but the WWE will have to do a lot more to generate more interest in this feud.

6. New Tag Champs- I predicted that The Usos would retain so they could drop the titles to The Ascension, but I like having Cesaro & Kidd win. The crowd loves them, they are capable of having great matches, make sure both of these wrestlers are relevant, and sparks up the tag division. While it would be an absolute dream to see Cesaro and Kidd wrestle in a 15 minute match at 'Mania, I think they will have some sort of successful title defense at the Show of Shows. As for The Ascension, I think they win the titles somewhere down the road, as there doesn't appear much else for them to do.

5. The Return of Randy Orton- After the opening match (a six-man tag match featuring Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, & Ryback against Seth Rollins, Kane, & Big Show), the victorious Authority members (along with J&J Security) began beating the losing team. But before Rollins could hit Ryback with a Curb Stomp (as he did to Ziggler and Rowan), Orton made his return to a chorus of cheers and cleared the ring of the villains. This is setting up the Orton/Rollins match at 'Mania, which should be a good one.

4. Rusev and Cena Definitely Delivers- This was a very good match, as both of these guys worked really hard. This was the best singles match of Rusev's career, and he showed off some new moves like a DDT, a spinebuster, and elbow drops. The part where Cena powered out of The Accolade was really cool, but the low blow kind of ruined things. I fully expect his feud to continue through 'Mania, where Cena will become the new United States champion.

3. Sting and Triple H at 'Mania- The Sting/ Triple H segment was all about making their clash at 'Mania official. Triple H was very good on the mic, while Sting continues to maintain his silence. Some fans want The Icon to talk, but I like his silence, as it gives him an aura of mysteriousness. One negative from this segment: the crowd was pretty dead (though to be fair, they were pretty dead all night). The first two times Sting showed up, the crowd went nuts.

2. Bray Wyatt is Absolutely Golden-When the chorus started singing, everyone immediately assumed The Undertaker was returning. The traditional entrance with druids and fire began, when two druids wheeled out a casket. This was the perfect way to reintroduce The Deadman, now that his streak was dead. However, it was actually Bray Wyatt, who delivered an excellent promo about how The Phenom was now a mere mortal and how he wanted to face him at 'Mania. If you didn't watch the PPV, go out of your way to watch this segment, it was phenomenal. Many people are still clamoring for 'Taker/Sting, but I think 'Taker/Wyatt is perfect, especially now that The Streak has been broken. Wyatt is the perfect man to focus on a weakened and beaten Taker.

1. Roman Reigns is the Future- Roman Reigns had the best singles match of his career last night against D-Bry (the previous best was his match against Orton at SummerSlam last year). Not only did he become the first person to ever kick out of Bryan's Running Knee Strike, he pinned Bryan cleanly after one Spear. It's clear WWE is still high on Reigns. What's more, the crowd was much more in favor of Reigns. Maybe the main event of WrestleMania won't be such a dud after all.
