Survivor Series 2014 Predictions
Survival is on everyone's mind as Survivor Series is right around the corner. This is one of the Big Four pay-per-views, along with the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam. Survivor Series has a rich history with the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match which has showcased many WWE Legends, including The Ultimate Warrior, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Randy Orton, and Big Show. This year, like in 2012 and 2013, we have two of those matches on the card, including one which will be the main event. There are only two championships on the line. Besides Royal Rumble 2014, this will be only event in more than five years (I gave up looking past 2009) for an event in which only two championships are on the line. In fact, there are only five matches advertised right now. That's really low, which means the main event match will be at least thirty minutes long. We will probably get some unadvertised matches, most likely involving Cesaro, Bo Dallas, Jack Swagger, or Tyson Kidd. I'm personally hoping for the new Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Big E stable, but I don't think that's going to happen. Instead, my money's on Adam Rose losing to a face (probably Swagger) and then assaulting the Bunny. Seriously, the Bunny is going to be on a Big Four PPV.
So far, I'm 39 for 53 on my predictions since Extreme Rules (when I started keeping track of my predictions). That's about 73%, so the goal is to finish the year above 75%. But next year, I want to get to 100 PERCENT. Yeah, that's never happening. Anyways, let's get started.
Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella- I don't even know where to begin with this. The Bella feud has been criticized to no end, and it looks like it's going to continue for a while. AJ Lee's title reign meanwhile, has gotten a little stale. During her first title reign, she was totally against the Total Divas and stood up to them. Now, she just smiles and skips around. I think Nikki Bella gets the win here, then successfully defends the title against AJ in a rematch on Raw tomorrow. That's when Brie Bella becomes free, and she will probably challenged Nikki for the title and probably win it in January, which is when Total Divas starts up again. Winner: Nikki Bella
WWE Tag Team Champions Gold & Stardust vs. The Miz & Damien Mizdow vs. The Usos vs. Los Matadores (Fatal 4-Way Match)- I'm glad they went with this match instead of only having Los Matadores as the top contenders. This makes sure The Usos and Miz & Mizdow get involved as well. Speaking of Miz & Mizdow, how great have they been lately? Mizdow's antics have been fantastic while Miz is doing a great job of coming off as a jerk. I see them winning the titles here (even if it is a heel to heel switch), having a fun reign, dropping the titles to a transition team (probably The Usos) so The Ascension can win the titles at 'Mania, and then Sandow turning on Miz and becoming a face cheered wildly by the fans. Winners: The Miz and Damien Mizdow
Alicia Fox, Natalya, Naomi, & Emma vs. Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae, and Layla (Traditional Survivior Series Elimination Tag Match)- I see this going either two ways: either Natalya is the sole survivor or Paige is. It doesn't really make sense for any of the other Divas to survive. I'm leaning towards Paige, because she is one of the newest Total Divas, and isn't that how the WWE makes booking decisions these days? Winner: Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae, and Layla (Sole Survivor: Paige)
Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt- The reception to this feud has been mixed. Sure, the mic work and promos have been great, Wyatt's character has been off the charts while Ambrose is still very much over. Some people projected this as a feud that could go all the way to 'Mania, but I don't see that happening. I see Wyatt getting the win here, but Ambrose ultimately winning the feud sometime in January or February. Winner; Bray Wyatt
Team Cena (John Cena, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, & Ryback) vs. Team Authority (Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins, Director of Operations Kane, Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper, United States Champion Rusev, and Mark Henry) in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match (if Team Authority Wins, all of Team Cena besides John Cena is fired and if Team Authority loses, the Authority will be out of power)- That was the longest match introduction ever. It seems like the WWE has just been piling stipulations on to make people more interested. I actually thought Team Authority was going to win (with Rollins as the sole survivor) until the fired storyline was made. Come on, are we really supposed to believe that Ziggler, Rowan, Show, and Ryback will be fired? No, it's more likely that we see the end of The Authority. We'll probably get Raw and SmackDown GMs. Ric Flair is supposedly returning to Raw in a couple weeks, so I'd have him as Raw GM with maybe Brad Maddox as SmackDown GM. As for the survivors, I think it'll just be John Cena. And while we're talking about Cena, can we all agree what a terrible team captain he is? Where was he when Sheamus was taken out on Raw? By the way, for those who don't know, Sheamus is undergoing surgery, which is why he is not competing today. I like the Rowan substitution, it was improbable and really shook things up. I think we get a Rowan/Harper feud going forward as well as Rusev/Ryback and Cena/Rollins. Speaking of Rusev, I think he gets eliminated via count-out or DQ. Maybe he and Ryback brawl outside the ring and both get counted out. It would protect them and help set up for a future feud. Winner: Team Cena (Sole Survivor: John Cena)
So to recap, I'm predicting that we will have two sole survivors and all heel champions when the night ends. Anyways, I really hope this is going to be a great PPV. The pre-show featuring Bad News Barrett (who is still not medically cleared to compete) starts in about 15 minutes. Oh, and before I forget: SPOILER ALERT: one injured WWE star is reportedly at the tapings and another star is supposed to make his debut. Enjoy the PPV everyone.
