WWE: What to Look For in the Rest of 2014

Make no mistake about it: WrestleMania is the highlight of the year for sports entertainment. But that happens in April, and there's eight months after that. So the question is: what next? What can we expect for the rest of the year? This article will look at some things we can expect, as well as some superstars who are expected to be major players.

One interesting development has been the return of Evolution. At their height, this faction was made up of four future hall-of-famers and made a huge impact. Now, the group is sans Ric Flair and noticeably different. Batista and Randy Orton are no longer hot commodities and Triple H is only a part-time performer. Furthermore, after their match with The Shield at Extreme Rules, Batista is expected to take some time off. Taking all of this into consideration, it's understandably a little difficult to see Evolution returning to their former status. At best, the group has a noticeable impact and Batista and Orton become tag team champions later on in the year.

The Wyatt Family on the other hand, is a more promising faction. At the moment, Bray Wyatt is embroiled in a rivalry with John Cena, the top dog in the company. This means that the company has a lot of faith in Wyatt and sees a big future ahead of him. Could that future include holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? It's possible, as Wyatt is one of the hottest stars in the company. It's also likely that Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will become tag team champions. They would be able to have an interesting rivalry with Jimmy and Jey Uso.

Another hot star: Bad News Barrett. After months of inaction, Barrett returned to the ring on the Raw after WrestleMania 30. Despite the heel, he was cheered on by the crowd during his match against Rey Mysterio. Since then, he has also defeated Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. However, it seems unlikely that Barrett will get back to the main event picture this year. He seems more destined for mid-card rivalries with the likes of Goldust and Big E.

Cody Rhodes on the other hand, has a great shot at climbing up the ladder. Currently he's tag teaming with his brother Goldust, but that team has run stagnant in recent weeks. Rhodes has world champion potential, and that potential needs to be tapped. First, he needs to break away from the tag team. This has to culminate in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, which could easily be a Match of the Year Contender. From there, he needs to feud with top heels such as Bray Wyatt or Batista. By the end of the year, he could very well be a top star.

Will any of these things actually happen? Only time will tell. Comment and let me know if you disagree with my predictions.
